How Rainbow Hues Became an Acrylic Jewellery Startup

For over 15 years, I built my career in the fast-paced world of public relations and media, leading operations at BOSE Communications and working with brands across industries. On paper, my life revolved around media strategy, brand positioning, and client relationships. But beyond boardrooms and campaigns, I carried a passion that had been with me since childhood—jewellery. Growing up in the 90s, I was fascinated by colourful accessories and spent countless weekends exploring flea markets with my mother, who had an incredible love for fashion and jewellery. Over the years, I collected hundreds of pairs of earrings, always searching for pieces that felt unique. While the market was filled with beautiful traditional and contemporary jewellery, I felt something was missing—fun, playful designs that celebrated everyday memories, festivals, food, and pop culture. That idea slowly transformed into Rainbow Hues, a brand built on nostalgia and creativity. It was a leap of faith because I didn’t know whether people would embrace unconventional designs like Pichkari earrings for Holi, Rocket and Anar earrings for Diwali, or Santa and Christmas tree earrings during Christmas. But the overwhelming response proved that people were looking for jewellery that wasn’t just fashionable—it was personal, joyful, and full of stories.

The journey wasn’t without challenges. Turning imaginative concepts into wearable statement pieces required constant experimentation with acrylic thickness, colours, engravings, finishes, and intricate detailing. Every design went through multiple prototypes before it reached customers, ensuring it was lightweight, durable, and visually striking. Through countless rounds of trial and error, Rainbow Hues gradually developed its own distinctive identity, eventually growing into a collection of more than 400 original acrylic statement jewellery designs. One of the biggest milestones came unexpectedly when our Melody Earrings went viral on social media following Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Italy. The attention brought widespread recognition and media coverage, but more importantly, it reinforced my belief that originality always finds its audience. We had created the design with sincerity and nostalgia, never imagining it would resonate with so many people across the country.

What makes Rainbow Hues even more special is that it has grown alongside one of the most meaningful chapters of my life—motherhood. My son has been my greatest inspiration and my biggest little supporter from day one. Behind every product launch, photoshoot, and packed order has been a child playing beside me, watching me create, and unknowingly reminding me why I started this journey. Becoming a mother gave me the courage to build something of my own and showed me that dreams don’t have an expiry date. I wanted to create a brand that celebrates colour, happiness, and originality while showing my son that passion, creativity, and perseverance can turn an idea into reality. Today, my hope is that people remember Rainbow Hues as more than a jewellery brand. I want it to be known as a brand that dared to be different—one that transformed childhood memories into wearable art, celebrated everyday joy, and proved that the most meaningful ideas are often the ones inspired by life itself.
