VLAQ: Turning Everyday Hydration Into a Branded Digital Touchpoint

branded digital touchpoint

VLAQ, a Jaipur-based company led by Bhagwan Rathore and Ishwar Rathore, Directors of VLAQ PRIVATE LIMITED, was born from a simple observation: packaged drinking water is present almost everywhere in the hospitality and business environment, yet it is rarely treated as part of the brand experience. Whether it is placed on a restaurant table, a hotel counter, an event setup, a lounge or an office desk, a water bottle is something customers naturally see, hold and use. But in most cases, the bottle carries a generic identity that has little connection with the business serving it. The VLAQ team saw an opportunity in this overlooked everyday touchpoint. Instead of creating another conventional packaged-water brand, they began exploring how a bottle could become an extension of the venue itself, something that could communicate its identity while also creating a bridge between the physical and digital customer experience.

The idea started with a straightforward question: What if the bottle represented the venue instead of a generic water brand? From that question, VLAQ gradually evolved beyond custom-branded packaged drinking water. The team imagined a bottle carrying the venue’s own visual identity, making it feel like a natural part of the restaurant, hotel, café, event or office environment. But the real opportunity emerged when they considered adding a QR code to the bottle. A guest could scan it and access a digital menu, guest feedback, review access, venue information, contact options or other relevant digital experiences. The physical bottle would attract attention and reinforce the brand, while the QR experience could turn that attention into meaningful interaction. This combination became the foundation of VLAQ’s approach bringing together Hydration, Branding and Technology in a way that fits naturally into the customer journey.

As the concept developed, the team realised that the real gap was not a shortage of branding channels. Businesses already have websites, menus, social media profiles, signage and digital advertising. The overlooked opportunity was the number of physical objects that customers interact with during their experience but that are still treated as generic utilities. Packaged drinking water stood out as one of the clearest examples. Venues were already purchasing and serving water, while customers were already interacting with the bottle, yet much of the branding value remained disconnected from the venue. By placing the venue’s own identity on the bottle, the business could turn an existing utility into a branded physical asset. By adding a QR-powered digital layer, the same object could also become an entry point to useful online actions. Instead of asking guests to search for a menu, find a website or remember a social media handle, the bottle already in front of them could provide a simple path to the information or action they need.

Turning the idea into a practical solution, however, required more than simply printing a logo on a bottle. VLAQ had to balance several elements at once: the bottle needed to look premium, the label had to communicate the right information, the venue branding needed to feel authentic, and the QR code had to remain easy to scan. At the same time, the digital experience had to offer genuine value rather than feel like technology added simply for the sake of it. The team approached this challenge through continuous prototyping and refinement. Different label concepts, QR placements and venue applications were explored, while the website and digital experience were developed alongside the physical product. Conversations with potential venues and early demonstrations helped the team understand how people perceived the concept and where it could be improved. One of the most important lessons was that VLAQ needed to be presented as more than custom-branded packaged drinking water. The physical product may be what people notice first, but the larger proposition lies in connecting that physical presence with a useful digital experience.

Because VLAQ is still in its early stage, the team has chosen to focus on building and learning rather than making exaggerated claims about traction or market validation. What has encouraged the team is the response when a venue sees its own identity represented on the bottle. An ordinary utility can immediately begin to feel like part of the venue’s environment and brand. The QR layer then opens a second possibility: the bottle is not only branded, but interactive. Depending on the venue, a scan could lead to a digital menu, guest feedback, review access, venue information, contact options or other relevant digital experiences. The goal is not to make the customer experience more complicated, but to make an existing touchpoint more visible, useful and connected.

Looking ahead, VLAQ’s ambition extends beyond branded water itself. The larger vision is to change how businesses think about the everyday physical objects that already exist within a customer’s journey. Hydration provides the physical presence, branding gives that presence meaning, and technology creates the possibility of interaction beyond the bottle. Together, these layers can connect offline experiences with digital engagement without forcing customers to change their behaviour. A guest can simply enjoy their visit, or, when they choose to engage, scan the bottle and immediately access something relevant whether that is a digital menu, guest feedback, review access, venue information, contact options or another relevant digital experience. For VLAQ, technology should remain in the background rather than distract from hospitality. The long-term ambition is to help businesses own more of the moments happening inside their spaces and turn ordinary physical interactions into memorable, measurable and useful brand connections. “Hydration. Branding. Technology.” is therefore intended to be more than a tagline; it represents VLAQ’s vision of making everyday touchpoints a natural part of a connected brand experience.
