Priyanka Mangaonkar-Vaiude : Director

Architect, Designer and Researcher : CEPT
Priyanka, is a mother and architect, designer, and researcher by profession. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the area of child development and importance of Play in early childhood development. As she believes in parenting through play and strongly feels that toys play an important role in child development. She holds a Master’s degree in Crafts and technology and is keen on redesigning and reinventing various arts and crafts forms across India. At Toy trunk, she is the main brain behind all the research that goes behind any new toy and is involved in designing a new toy with her expertise in materials, ergonomics, and its intervention with craft form.

Ms. Minu Premji Joshi : Director

Architect, M.SC in Theory and practice of Sustainable Design – UK
Minu , with an advanced degree in sustainability, will drive sustainable design initiatives, integrating eco-friendly materials and practices into toy development. Her experience in fostering creativity and collaboration can enhance innovation within the company. Additionally, her educational background and research can guide the creation of educational and historically themed toys, enriching the product line.

Toy Trunk is a brand that designs developmental toys for early childhood period, rooted in the way children grow and learn during their formative years. Each toy is thoughtfully created to support holistic development through meaningful play. At the same time, Toy Trunk works closely with Indian artisans, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design to keep the age-old skills & techniques alive. The vision is to nurture young minds while sustaining artisan livelihoods, creating impact for both children and communities.

Toy Trunk Products Support Child Development and Conscious Parenting

Unlike regular toys that are often flashy, battery-operated, or single-purpose, Toy Trunk toys are research-driven and aligned with early brain development. Nearly 90% of brain development happens in the early childhood period, and Toy Trunk designs toys to support this critical phase. Our toys encourage cognitive, motor, sensory, and emotional growth through hands-on engagement. Instead of passive play, children are actively thinking, exploring, and learning. Our toys are open-ended and accompanied by a guide book, showing multiple ways to play to support various aspects of development. These toys are sustainable, non toxic and coated with either bees wax, edible oils or colorful Lacquer that is made by mixing vegetable dyes- making them safe for kids and a good long lasting investment for parents.

Toy Trunk is built on two deeply interconnected pillars.
The first is holistic child development, where every toy is thoughtfully designed based on how a child’s brain develops and learns in the early years. We focus on creating play experiences that nurture cognitive, motor, and emotional development.
The second pillar is supporting Indian artisans, especially those whose traditional crafts are slowly disappearing. By collaborating closely with these skilled craftsmen, we aim to revive and sustain age-old craftsmanship by making it relevant to today’s needs.
At Toy Trunk, we don’t see these as separate goals—we believe meaningful play for children can also create meaningful livelihoods for artisans.
