Sattva Harvest is a sustainable home-care startup based in Nagpur, Maharashtra, that turns rescued fruit waste — primarily surplus orange peels — into all-natural, bio-enzyme cleaning solutions for homes and commercial spaces. The company offers three core products: a Dishwash Liquid, a Floor Cleaner, and a Laundry Liquid — each formulated without harsh chemicals, making them safe for people, pets, and the environment. Powered by advanced bio-enzyme technology, every bottle is biodegradable, non-toxic, and crafted from upcycled natural ingredients. Sattva Harvest’s products are available directly through its website and are designed for the growing number of Indian consumers who want cleaning solutions that are both effective and consciously made.

The Founders

Nalini Tambulkar — Founder Nalini is the heart and hands of Sattva Harvest. An urban farmer and sustainability practitioner with decades of lived experience, she has built deep expertise in bioenzyme creation, kitchen-waste management, and composting. It is her hands-on knowledge — of fermentation, of natural ingredients, of what it means to live lightly on the earth — that gave Sattva Harvest its formulations and its soul. At 52, she brings a quiet conviction to everything the brand stands for: that purity and practicality can coexist.

Ar. Kunal Tambulkar — Co-Founder Kunal is the strategic and creative force that shaped Sattva Harvest into a company. A trained architect with a focus on climate-responsive design and regenerative systems, he brings a designer’s eye and an innovator’s mindset to the brand. His background in advanced farming technologies — including aquaponics — informs his approach to building supply chains that work with nature, not against it. Young, driven, and deeply committed to circularity, Kunal sees Sattva Harvest not just as a product company but as a proof of concept for a greener Indian economy

Inspiration

Nagpur is India’s orange capital. Every season, thousands of tonnes of surplus oranges and peels go unsold, rotting on farms or ending up in landfills — a quiet crisis that costs farmers income and adds to the country’s mounting food-waste problem. Nalini and Kunal Tambulkar saw this waste differently. As urban farmers with deep roots in sustainable living, they asked a deceptively simple question: Can we turn this waste into something useful? The answer became Sattva Harvest. Drawing on Nalini’s expertise in bioenzyme creation and kitchen-waste management, and Kunal’s background in architecture and advanced farming systems, the founders developed a process to ferment surplus orange peels into powerful natural enzymes — the active ingredient in their range of home cleaners. A problem that was hurting farmers and the environment became the foundation of a brand. The name itself carries meaning: “Sattva” is a Sanskrit word for purity — a fitting symbol for a company built on the idea that cleaning your home should never come at the cost of the planet.

Why We Are Doing This

Sattva Harvest exists because cleaning products do not have to be harmful. Conventional cleaners are loaded with synthetic chemicals that pollute waterways, harm aquatic life, and leave residues in the very spaces families live in. At the same time, India generates enormous quantities of fruit waste each year — waste that carries real environmental and economic costs. The brand’s purpose runs on four pillars: Reducing food waste. By rescuing surplus orange peels before they reach landfills, Sattva Harvest has contributed to a 20–40% reduction in orange waste in the Nagpur region. Supporting farmers. The brand buys surplus fruit and peels directly from local growers at fair prices, creating new revenue streams for farmers who would otherwise absorb a loss. Protecting homes and health. Every Sattva Harvest product is free from toxic chemicals, making it safe for children, pets, and anyone with sensitivities — while saving thousands of litres of water compared to conventional alternatives. Building a circular economy. Sattva Harvest’s supply chain is deliberately circular — waste in, clean product out, with minimal environmental footprint at every step. It is a practical model for what sustainable business can look like in India. The brand is also incubated at InFED, the entrepreneurship hub at IIM Nagpur, and is supported by DST-NIDHI — recognition that underlines the real economic and environmental potential of this approach.
